Last November 2th Paul de Vroom and his former partner of DKV architecten had the pleasure of hosting a group of around 95 professors and students in architecture from the Catholic University of Louvain in the Rotterdam neighborhood Afrikaanderwijk. The group visited Rotterdam during several days for an architectural excursion and had chosen the DKV-project Tweebos Dwars at the Afrikaanderplein as one of the projects to visit. The project already dates from 1993, but the urban concept of a traffic-free square bordered by wedge shaped towers and the innovating housing typology of stacked maisonettes was regarded as contemporary, thanks for that!
